Who is Tamey Feltner?
Gospel music is not a career choice, it’s a calling, and one that Tamey Feltner has embraced with a joyful surrender. As she puts it, “Music became something that reverberated throughout my day; whether it was a song in my head, a song on the radio, or a song I made up with my siblings, there was always a tune swimming between my ears.” And that is exactly why when you hear the sound of her music, you are listening to the beat of her heart; her passion runs deep.
As a licensed physical therapist, Tamey has even found ways to incorporate her love of music into the treatment plans for her patients, resulting in noticeable rehabilitation gains for the young children that she sees. Currently, she serves as a praise & worship leader and in the choir at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers, GA where she was a featured lead on their latest CD, How Good the Lord Is, on the song “Out Here On Your Word.”
Born in Queens, NY, Tamey began singing publicly at age 5 in her church’s Sunshine Band. By the age of 8, she was in the adult choir and by 13, she was a praise & worship leader and choir director. Desiring to further develop her voice, Tamey sang with Clark Atlanta University’s Inspirational Voices of Faith Choir. Soon, she began writing her own music, including several songs for other independent artists. Tamey would also lend her voice as a background singer for various local and national artists. Other notable accolades include the privilege of singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” for the 2011 MLK Jr. March in Atlanta, GA and, in that same year, an acting/singing role as Shirley Caesar in the independent stage production, A Tribute To Gospel Legends [DC Theatrical Visions]. Utilizing her original songwriting skills, Tamey also wrote and performed the theme track entitled, “Forgive Him Lord,” for the stage play In the Eye of the Storm [Slaughter House Productions] in 2012.

Tamey’s deep musical beginnings are rooted in her childhood. She grew up listening to her parents’ music, especially the constant sound of their Motown collection. However, Tamey was more drawn to gospel music, which penetrated through her oversized headphones and into her soul. For hours, she would listen to the likes of James Cleveland, The Caravans, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Milton Brunson, Timothy Wright, Edwin Hawkins, and other gospel voices and choirs. It was the soul in the voices and spiritual storylines echoed through those songs that captivated Tamey.
Life experience has shown her that there will be sadness, there will be sorrow, there will be joy, and everything in between, but the Word of God is peace. Through her music, it is Tamey’s desire to reach those who are enthusiastic about praising and worshiping God, who seek to express their love to God, but may not always have the exact words of expression. She has developed a style and approach which resonates with those currently any life situation, and she is eager to share her praise through song with others. In her own words, Tamey states, “My passion to sing and write gospel music stems from an awakening of my spirit—knowing the truth of who God is and the love he has for those that choose to accept his Son as Savior. I realize that nothing is inherently good in me and everything I know, say, and do that benefits the world around me is possible only by God’s hand on my life. I believe He has blessed me with a voice to sing—in turn, I want to sing to Him and I want others to sing along with me. My hope is to inspire people to see how great our God really is.”
